Write one entrant in each empty first-round box. Keep the marked BYEs empty and advance their opponents.

Numbers show seed positions, not match results. Put your ranked teams in those positions and follow the fixed paths.

Print opens a separate sheet. Choose A4 or US Letter, landscape, and fit to page. Select Save as PDF in your browser to make a PDF. These downloads are static sheets; use the editor’s PNG export for your entered names and results.

How does a 10 team bracket work?

A 10 team single elimination bracket needs nine games over four rounds, with six first-round BYEs. Four teams play two opening matches, joining the six waiting teams in the quarterfinals. The remaining games are four quarterfinals, two semifinals, and one final: 2 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 9.

Use the editor above to enter ten teams, choose winners, and export the current bracket as a PNG. The blank and seeded printable templates use the same draw, so your paper sheet can follow the online version.

Which teams get the six BYEs?

This seeded template gives seeds 1–6 one first-round BYE each. Seeds 7–10 play the two opening matches. The six unused positions complete a sixteen-slot draw; they are not extra entrants.

Quarter of the drawOpening matchQuarterfinal

BBoth teams have a BYESeed 4 vs Seed 5
CSeed 7 vs Seed 10Seed 2 vs winner of 7/10
DBoth teams have a BYESeed 3 vs Seed 6

The winners of A and B meet in one semifinal; the winners of C and D meet in the other. Seeds 1 and 2 are in opposite halves and can meet only in the final.

The 4 vs 5 and 3 vs 6 quarterfinals are already known before the opening round. Each of those teams received one BYE, even though they next face another team that also waited.

Create an editable 10 team bracket

  1. Open the team list and paste exactly ten names, one per line, from seed 1 through seed 10.
  2. The editor places the seeds and advances the six BYE teams automatically. Do not type “BYE” as a team name or paste names in visual bracket order.
  3. Review the two opening matches and four quarterfinal paths against the numbered template.
  4. Choose each winner as matches finish. Changing an earlier winner clears later picks on that path so you can update them.
  5. Export a PNG to share your entered names and selected results.

For an event without rankings, use a random draw before play and announce who receives the six BYEs. Drawing again changes the placements and clears selected winners.

Print a blank or seeded 10 team bracket

Choose the blank template for handwritten names at check-in, or the seeded template to show positions 1–10. Both retain the six BYE labels. Download PNG or SVG, or open Print / PDF and use your browser's Save as PDF option with A4 or US Letter, landscape, and fit to page.

The downloadable templates are ready-made sheets. To include names and winners entered in the editor, use its PNG export.

Plan arrival times around the two opening games

Seeds 7–10 need an opening-round reporting time. Seeds 1 and 2 wait for opening winners; seeds 3–6 already know their quarterfinal opponents. Publish those assignments so a BYE is not mistaken for a missing match.

On one court or station, allow nine match windows plus breaks. With two courts, a simple round-by-round plan uses five waves: the two openers, two waves of quarterfinals, the semifinals, and the final. Four courts can run the four quarterfinals together, giving four waves in total. These examples assume equal match lengths and need extra time for rest and changeovers.

FAQ

Why does a 10 team bracket have six BYEs?

Sixteen is the next power of two above ten. The six unfilled positions become first-round BYEs, leaving eight teams in the quarterfinals after the two opening matches.

How many games are in a 10 team single elimination bracket?

Nine, excluding any third-place playoff. Each played match eliminates one team, so nine eliminations leave one champion.

How many wins does a team need to become champion?

Seeds 1–6 need three wins after their BYE: quarterfinal, semifinal, and final. Seeds 7–10 need four, starting in the opening round.

Can I download a printable 10 team bracket as PDF?

Open a blank or seeded Print / PDF sheet and select Save as PDF in your browser. PNG and SVG templates are also available directly.

Can I make a random draw instead of seeding teams?

Yes. Randomize before the event starts, check the resulting BYEs, and publish the draw. A random draw does not assess team strength.

What if one more team registers?

Switch to the 11-team bracket before play begins. It has five BYEs and ten games. For twelve entrants, use the 12-team bracket with four BYEs and eleven games.
